Mike Tyson Vs. A 20th Century Psychiatrist

The Guide To Knocking Out Your 2024 Goals 10X Faster!

Who Packs A Bigger Punch?

Question.

Who packs a bigger punch?

Mike Tyson?

Or, a 20th century Swiss psychiatrist by the name of Carl Jung?

Truthfully…

I’m team Carl, and here’s why…

Feast your eyes on this absolute gem of a line.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate"

Carl Jung

Kevin Hart Reacting To The Carl Jung Quote Above

I couldn’t agree more Kevin.

This one’s got weight to it.

“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”

Said another way…

Until you know, what you don’t know, the unknown, will control your life.

Clear as dirt?

At the root of this pursuit is one goal - awareness.

In the way of awareness is “the unknown”.

The longer the unknown stands in the way of awareness, the longer you’ll wait to accomplish your goals, and live the life you want.

How then, does one go about revealing the unknown?

Wait, stop!

Before we go any further, let’s pause for a public service announcement. 👇

Ron Burgondy Asking For Your Attention

In this context, when we say “revealing the unknown” please be aware…

We’re not talking about any deep dark childhood core memories.

We’re not cleaning out any closets.

There’s plenty of spaces for that. This just isn’t that space.

Project iOS brings sweet relief.

What we’re talking about is getting self aware at the surface level first, and then working your way down over a lonnnnggg time.

We’re talking about knowing your habits, actions, and patterns.

How good can you get at knowing your behaviors, and the thoughts and emotions that power them?

Because according to Mr. Jung here, the sooner you do that, the sooner you have the opportunity to regain control of your life.

Now, everyone has their preferred way of raising awareness and “knowing thyself”.

And I think that’s fantastic.

I just want to throw one more option into the ring.

The Cheat Code

Project iOS Is The Cheat Code Playbook.

Update 3.0 was the start of this process. If you haven't read that yet, stop here and go back, it will make things so much easier.

However, once you know what season you're in, it's time to move forward.

Enter Update 4.0, the Performance Profile, a powerful tool for bringing clarity to your gaps and building a plan to close them.

A performance profile provides unmatched insight on your most critical goals and the most effective ways to achieve them.

It allows you to recognize your patterns, habits, and behaviors, and start taking action to change them.

It's a cheat code to making progress and seeing serious results.

Let's dive in.

The Performance Profile

Trust Andy, This Is The Good Stuff.

  • If you’re in the In-season, start by answering these questions…(If you don't know what the In-season is, click here)

    • Describe the qualities that make up the mindset you need to find success this season?

    • What personal traits do you need to execute on to give yourself the best chance for an incredible performance this season?

    • How do you need to show up mentally to accomplish this season’s goals?

  • If you’re in the Pre-season or Off-season, start by answering these questions…(If you don't know what the Pre-season or the Off-season are, click here)

    • What skills, mental or technical, would help you thrive in performance next In-season?

    • If you could change 2-4 performance related habits, what would they be?

    • What personal qualities are standing in the way of you taking your performance to the next level?

Once you’ve answered these questions, it’s time to choose your four most important focal points for the season ahead.

For example, mine might be; communication, focus, confidence, and technical knowledge.

Review your answers and look for the trends, what comes up most often?

Ultimately you want to select four core qualities, that if focused on and invested in, will make a lasting impact in your performance.

I've created a template, and example, below.👇

Follow this, and quite shortly you'll have momentum and direction you never knew possible.

Example: Trevor’s Top Season Focuses:

For this example, I’m saying I’m in the In-season. The four core qualities that will allow me to thrive this In-season are noted below.

  1. Communication

  2. Focus

  3. Confidence

  4. Technical Knowledge

Assess Your Present

Let’s Start This Thing!

Start your Performance Profile by creating your own version of the image below. (Sorry, I’m not much of an artist.)

If you don’t want to draw it out, you can download a template below.👇

Once you have yours, label each slice of the pie chart with one of your key focal points that you discovered in the process above. It should look similar to this.

Performance Profile With Skills Noted. (Download Above)

To begin, start by defining your chosen terms.

Maybe you wrote down communication, focus, confidence, and technical skill.

Just like above.

For each item you’ve written, create a definition of what that skill or quality looks like when put into action.

Don’t skip this step, it’ll serve as the building blocks to your future growth.

Time To Judge Yourself (Constructively I Promise!)

Randy Wants To See You Win!

Once you’ve defined each skill or quality you’ve selected, you’ll want to honestly score yourself on how well you possess that particular skill or quality right now.

For ranking purposes, a “1” represents a person who hardly possesses the skill, and a “5” represents a person who has near mastery of the skill.

Realistically rank each skill on your page based on your most recent performance.

Then, define what that score looks like.

If you’ve scored yourself a 3 on communication, what does a 3 look like in action?

How does a 3 act day-to-day? What are their habits and behaviors?

This part is key!

Creating definitions for these scores creates definable benchmarks of growth, so you can have validation that the work you’re putting in, is paying off.

Once you’ve assessed each skill your page should look like this.👇

Semi-Completed Performance Profile.

Having completed this step you’ve officially brought clarity to where you’re launching off from.

That’s huge!

With out this step growth is indirect, random, and greatly inconsistent.

Your starting point has now been established. The next step is to lock-in your target.

Define Your Target

Aim Small, Miss Small!

Step 1:

In order to lock-in your target, you must first define your time limit.

Your chances of successfully running a race in 10 minutes depends greatly on the length of the race, doesn’t it?

So step one is to decide how much time you want to give yourself.

Often you will set this time for the same length of your specific season.

For example, if your In-season is 3 weeks long, or 3 months long, that is usually the time frame you go with for the Performance Profile.

Take a moment to think this over.

Step 2:

The next step is establishing the specific target score for each of your selected skills.

This score represents where you’d like to be, at the end of your specified time range.

For example, you're currently a 3 on communication, but in 3 months you want to be at a 4.5.

Fantastic, write down your target score for each trait or skill.

Step 3:

Lastly, just like before, take a moment to define what your target score looks like in action.

You said you want to be a 4.5 in communication? Great, how does a 4.5 act?

How do they show up?

Again this part is key.

Defining your target score will allow you to realistically measure how your progress evolves.

Your Performance Profile should now look like this.👇

Build Your Plan

Bob’s Got Your Back!

You've now given your process structure, it has a foundation and it has a projected end point.

Now it's time to build your plan, create your goals, and start making the journey.

If you want to see how I personally build a bulletproof plan and set relevant goals, then check out Update 4.0 next week.

Update 5.0 will explore a framework that prepares you for almost every potential roadblock imaginable, making you, dare we say, unstoppable.

It takes focus, dedication, and persistence.

You’ve multiplied your momentum today simply by exploring this tool and taking time to reflect.

Now, put it into action.

Start defining where you’re at, where you’re headed, and what skills you must leverage to make it there.

Growth is never linear. It’s never a straight path. But it also never occurs if you never start.
